Fundraising
Magdala is a charity, wholly dependent on grants,
sponsorship and generous donations from local
businesses and individual supporters. We have
been fortunate enough to receive Arts Council
funding over the last seven years - because the
innovative nature of our work in the community
has been recognised and valued - but this funding
is due to come to an end in 2008.
The purpose of this Special Gala, apart from
giving pleasure to you and your guests, is to
raise funds so that Magdala can continue to do
all the things it does best - performing, coaching,
supporting and inspiring people - young and old
- from the local community. Every penny of profit
from the event will be used wisely and well.
We do hope you’ll want to help.
Magdala
Magdala is a small, artist-led community organisation
whose purpose is “To open up opportunities
for people through singing to realise their potential,
creating experiences which are life enhancing,
life changing and life affirming”.
Magdala offers people from all backgrounds the
chance to discover their voice, the experience
of making music together and the challenge of
doing so to the highest possible standard.
Our schools based programme, Opera Start, engages
young people from the most deprived communities
in creative projects that build self-belief and
raise levels of aspiration.
Registered Charity No: 1108553
“Throughout my long involvement with Magdala,
I have always been impressed by the team spirit
and dedication of everyone I have worked with
there. They have their own unique way of giving
people from all backgrounds the confidence to
find their voices and express their true qualities,
which in turn enriches their lives”
